US musician Tom Petty dies at 66
US musician Tom Petty has died in California aged 66.
According to his spokeswoman, he died on Monday night at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles after he suffered a cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu.
He was best known as the lead singer of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers rock band, producing hits as American Girl, Breakdown, Free Fallin’, Learning to Fly and Refugee.
Petty and the Heartbreakers had recently completed the 40th anniversary tour.
